Getting started

Pentire (pronounced “pain-tee-ray”) is a paint-by-stickers app for iPhone and iPad. It turns any photo — your pet, a portrait, a scene — or a picture from its built-in library into a relaxing sticker puzzle. The image becomes numbered outline slots plus a tray of stickers you peel, rotate, and place to rebuild the picture. It's calm, satisfying, and ASMR-style, with tunable difficulty and four art styles.
No. Pentire is an independent paint-by-stickers puzzle app for iPhone and iPad, made by Solutionflare LLC. It has no connection to Pentire Drinks, the non-alcoholic spirits brand. If you searched for the Pentire app, the Pentire puzzle, the Pentire stickers game, or Pentire for iPhone — this is it, free on the App Store.
Paint by stickers is like paint by number, but tactile. Instead of filling regions with color, you complete a picture by placing pre-made sticker pieces. Pentire shows the picture as numbered outline slots and gives you a tray of matching stickers. You pick a sticker, rotate it to the correct angle, and drop it into its slot. When every slot is filled, the picture is complete. Learn more about paint by stickers →
No. You can download Pentire and start making puzzles without creating an account or signing in. There's no sign-up, no email required, and no profile to manage.
Pentire runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 and later. A reasonably recent device is recommended for the fastest on-device photo processing on the largest, most detailed puzzles.

Photos & privacy

Yes. Open the Create tab, choose From a Photo, pick any picture from your library or take a new one, pick an art style and difficulty, and Pentire turns it into numbered slots and a matching sticker tray. Pets, portraits, landscapes, screenshots, and kids' drawings all work. See how it works →
No. Pentire processes imported photos entirely on-device using on-device AI. Your photos are never uploaded, never sent to a server, and never leave your iPhone or iPad. Pentire only needs access to the specific photo you choose, and you can grant limited ("Selected Photos") access in iOS Settings. Read the full privacy policy →
Everything stays on your device: your puzzles, your progress, imported photos, your settings, your theme, and your streak are all stored locally in the app and are never sent to us. Pentire requires no account, and the only data it collects is purchase history if you buy Pentire Plus — the receipt is validated under a random, app-generated identifier so you can restore it later. That's the only category on Pentire's App Store privacy label. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
No. Pentire ships with no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, and no advertising or attribution SDK. We can't see which puzzles you play, which features you use, or how long you play. Pentire never asks for the advertising identifier, so you'll never get an App Tracking Transparency prompt from it, and its privacy manifest declares tracking as false with no tracking domains. If that ever changes in a future release, the privacy policy and the App Store privacy labels will be updated before it ships.
In the current version, two things and nothing else. First, on launch the app downloads one small static settings file from pentire.solutionflare.com — the same file for everyone, with no query parameters and no identifier — so we can turn a feature off or post a notice without an app update. Second, if you buy Pentire Plus, Apple processes the payment and RevenueCat validates the receipt so you can restore it. Your photos, puzzles, progress, and settings never leave your device. There's no Pentire account server at all. The full list is in the privacy policy →
No. There are no banner ads, no interstitials, no rewarded video, no sponsored puzzles, and no ad SDK in the app. Pentire is free to download and funded by one optional upgrade, Pentire Plus, which you never have to buy — all 60 built-in puzzles (at Starter, Easy, and Medium difficulty), unlimited generated art, and your first photo puzzles are free.
Yes. Once a puzzle is created it plays fully offline. Because photo import and processing also run on-device, you don't need an internet connection to import a photo or play a puzzle.
Yes, completely. Because photos are cut into stickers on your device and the 60-puzzle library ships inside the app, everything works with no signal: import a photo, generate new art, and play any puzzle in airplane mode. A connection is only needed to buy or restore Pentire Plus and to open a shared puzzle link.
No. Both optional notifications — the daily reminder and the streak warning that fires only on a day your streak would end — are scheduled locally on your device by iOS. There's no push server and no push token, so we can't tell whether you enabled them, saw them, or tapped them. Turn them off in Settings, or revoke notification permission in iOS Settings, and they're gone.
Finishing any puzzle each day builds a streak — Today's Puzzle or one of your own — and today never breaks it until the day is over. You start with two free Shields, and every day you complete banks one (you can hold up to 2). If you miss a day, a Shield is used automatically and quietly to keep your streak alive — nothing to buy and nothing to press. If a gap is bigger than your Shields can cover, the streak resets but your Shields are kept.

Playing & customizing

Every library puzzle opens with a difficulty chooser — five levels from Starter (12 big stickers, great for young children) to Expert (220 small pieces) — plus a piece-shape choice of natural cuts, polygons, squares, or classic jigsaw-style Puzzle pieces, with a live preview of exactly how the picture will be cut. When creating from a photo or generating art, you pick the same options before the puzzle is made.
Pentire calls them Looks, and there are four: Photo keeps every bit of the picture's real detail; Cartoon posterizes it into fewer, bolder shades; Pastel washes it into soft, chalky tones; and Flat color gives each sticker a single solid tone, paint-by-number style. You're never locked into one — reopen any puzzle, pick a different Look, and Pentire re-cuts it on the spot. Photo and Flat color are free; Cartoon and Pastel come with Pentire Plus.
That's the Flat color Look working as designed: it fills every sticker with one solid tone, paint-by-number style. Each sticker takes the average color of the area it covers, so the fewer pieces a puzzle has the less of the photo survives — a 12-piece Starter cut becomes a dozen large blocks of color. To get the picture back, reopen the puzzle and switch the Look to Photo, or raise the difficulty so Flat color has enough pieces to work with. Pentire warns you when a combination will average your picture away. Flat color looks best on generated art, which is already flat-shaded, or on detailed cuts of 60 pieces and up.
Yes — none of it is fixed at creation time, and this works on your own photo puzzles as well as all 60 built-in ones. Open a puzzle from the library and the options sheet offers Difficulty, Piece shape, and Look, with a live preview of how the picture will be divided. Change any of them and Pentire re-cuts on the spot. Each combination keeps its own saved progress, so switching to a new cut never destroys a half-finished one — switch back and it's exactly as you left it.
Pentire's built-in library has 60 original puzzles across six themes: space, ocean, food, farm, landscapes, and abstract. Every one is included free, opens instantly, and can be played at any difficulty and piece shape.
The big card at the top of the library. Every day Pentire spotlights one of its 60 built-in puzzles — the same pick for every player worldwide on any given date, arriving at your local midnight. If you've already started it, the card offers to continue right where you left off.
While holding a sticker, twist with two fingers to rotate it, or double-tap to turn it 90°. Drag it near its matching numbered slot and, when the position and angle are close enough, it snaps into place with a gentle tap.
No. Pentire saves your progress automatically. You can leave a puzzle half-finished, close the app, and pick up exactly where you left off later.
Everything you make — generated art, photo puzzles, saved variations, and entered codes — lives in the Yours section at the top of the library. You can rename or delete any of them, and each reopens with the exact cut you saved.
Sticker Hop is Pentire's built-in mini-game: a die-cut sticker hops over blocks and slides under barriers while your puzzle is being cut, so even loading is fun. You can also play it any time from Settings → Just for Fun, and your high score is saved.
Yes. Open the in-game menu on any built-in or generated puzzle and tap Share puzzle code. Pentire creates a link (and a short code) that carries the whole puzzle — the picture, difficulty, piece shape, and art style — so your friend plays the exact same puzzle. They can tap the link and choose Open in Pentire, or paste the code into Enter a code in the library. Photo puzzles are the one exception: your photo never leaves your device, so they can't be shared.
The link lands on a page with the code; if Pentire is installed, tap Open in Pentire there and the shared puzzle opens. Otherwise grab the free download first — then tap Enter a code at the top of the library and paste the code to play the exact same puzzle.
Yes. In Settings → Theme, tap any locked theme to preview it live across the whole app for a few seconds — the real thing, not a swatch — before Pentire Plus is offered. Your saved theme is untouched, and if you upgrade, your pick is remembered.
In Settings → While You Play, toggle Haptics and Sound effects independently. Both are on by default and kept deliberately gentle; sound also respects your device's silent switch.

Pricing

Yes — Pentire is free to download, with no ads and no account required. The free tier includes the full built-in puzzle library, on-demand art generation, your first photo puzzles, and shareable puzzle codes. An optional Pentire Plus upgrade — a one-time lifetime purchase or a monthly subscription — unlocks unlimited photo puzzles, every difficulty, piece shape, art style, and theme, plus unlimited saved puzzles.
One optional upgrade: Pentire Plus — $29.99 as a one-time lifetime purchase or $4.99 per month as an auto-renewing subscription (U.S. prices; they vary by region), processed by Apple through the App Store with the exact price shown before you buy. Everything you create stays yours — if a subscription ends, every puzzle you already made remains playable.
To restore on a new device, open the app's Settings and tap Restore Purchases while signed in with the same Apple Account. To manage or cancel the monthly subscription, use Settings → Manage Pentire Plus in the app, or iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. You keep Plus until the end of the paid period, and everything you made stays playable after it ends.
Generating brand-new art is free and unlimited — make as many as you like. On the free tier you can keep up to 5 creations in your Yours library; when it's full, new puzzles still play, and Pentire tells you so — Pentire Plus lifts the limit to unlimited, or you can delete one to free a slot. Photo puzzles have their own free allowance of 2. Anything you've already saved always stays playable.

Troubleshooting

Use a higher-resolution source photo and increase the difficulty to add more, smaller pieces for finer detail. Very dark, very busy, or low-resolution photos produce fewer usable pieces. Cropping to the subject before importing also improves results.
Make sure the sticker is rotated to roughly the correct angle and dragged close to its matching numbered slot — Pentire snaps the piece once it's near enough and oriented correctly. For small pieces, use the zoom slider to get in close, and tap Reference to peek at the finished picture. Truly stuck? Tap the Hint button (free, unlimited): it pulses the held sticker's exact spot on the board and turns the piece the right way.
Because processing runs on-device, the largest, most detailed puzzles take longer on older hardware. Try a slightly lower difficulty, close other apps, and make sure your device isn't in Low Power Mode. If import still fails, restart Pentire and try again.
